PROFILETom has been a talented middle distance athlete since competing at English Schools. He studied exercise science at Florida State University , and whilst in the states Tom shattered a 20-year-old Florida State record for the 800metres with a time that was close to Sebastian Coe's best at the same age. Tom turned down the chance to study medicine three years ago in order to become a full-time athlete. With the desire to fulfil his second passion after his athletic career, Tom definitely made the correct decision considering his success in recent years. A five-time national 1500m champion in his teens, the Northern runner captured the 2003 European Junior silver and placed sixth in the 2004 World Junior Final before breaking through onto the senior middle-distance scene four years later. Tom is the No.1 British1500m runner and competed for Team GB at the Beijing Olympics. |
