PROFILE

Born in Essex in 1982 Ben took up golf at the age of seven. By the age of ten Ben was shooting in the seventies and at fifteen was playing off scratch.

At eighteen years old Ben attended university to read Law and with a handicap of plus one was looking forward to finishing his degree and going on to compete on tour. Unfortunately shortly after arriving at university Ben was diagnosed with a serious kidney condition and had to have two operations to rectify the problem. Ben was informed by his consultant that the operations would in all probability end his dreams of playing golf. This run of bad luck left Ben unable to swing a golf club for the best part of two years and he saw his dream of competing with the best golfers in the world slipping away.

In 2003 Ben graduated from university with a 2:1 and soon found work in an investment firm. He had never given up on his dream and slowly began practising again. Before long he found himself on the range or on the course every day after work. Slowly his swing started coming back to him and he found that if anything the operations had slowed his swing slightly and improved his timing of the ball. In 2004 Ben was promoted to Legal and Financial Director.

Ben continued to work and practise every day, knowing that he had not yet got his golf back to the level it needed to be to play on tour. By 2005 Ben was playing off plus two and becoming more confident that his golf could continue to improve with the right amount of practise, a decision needed to be made.

In 2007 Ben made that decision and subsequently left his job and moved to Spain to concentrate solely on his golf. He practised every day and saw golf as his full time job, never missing a day knowing that as Ben Hogan says "every day you don't practise is one day longer before you achieve greatness".

In 2010 Ben felt his golf was at a high enough level to finally compete with the very best golfers in the world and took the decision to turn pro.
