Mark is currently seeking funding to help cover his expenses for the forthcoming season on The European Challenge Tour. Below is a brief history of his golf career thus far. Mark turned professional in 2007 after qualifying onto the PGA Europro Tour. He competed on this tour for 2 years which was a great grounding for the start of his professional career. During these 2 years he finished 17th and 12th respectively on the Order of Merit, reflecting his consistency as he achieved 11 top 10’s out of the 26 events, three of which were 2nd places. During 2009, Mark received 6 National Invitations through Ryder Cup Wales to play on the European Challenge Tour. Through these invitations he finished 125th on the Order of Merit, his highest finish being 11th in the Karnten Golf Open in Austria, on 11 under par. This earned him a category 13 for the following season. In 2010, Mark’s Category 13 gave him entry into 13 European Challenge Tour events, approximately half the events for the year. He ended the year 96th on the Order of Merit, with his highest finishes being 4th at the Fred Olsen Challenge in Tenerife, on 13 under par, and Tied 11th in The Moroccan Classic, on 6 under par. This successful year means that Mark is now Category 11 for the 2011 season, which will get him into the majority of events. In 2010, Mark’s ranking also gained him entry into his first European Tour events, The Portuguese Estoril Open and the Alfred Dunhill Championship. He missed the cut by one shot in Portugal, but made the cut and finished 57th in South Africa. Mark’s target for 2011 is to finish top 20 on the Order of Merit, to gain a European Tour card for the 2012 season. |
