PROFILE

Mahama Cho is Britain’s reining five time national Taekwondo champion competing in the heavy weight category.

Mahama first tried taekwondo when he was eight years old, after being introduced to the sport by his father, a former African national champion. Mahama was also a talented footballer and played semi professionally, but t the age of 17 he made the difficult decision to focus on taekwondo full time.

Now five years on he has recorded a number of victories both nationally and internationally. His ambitions are to medal in the world championships, the Olympics and become world number one.

Mahama recently made the decision to leave the world class performance programme, based up in Manchester, and return back to London so he could continue with his university studies, and be closer to his family and his own personal coach. This move has allowed him to focus 100% on his goals with the support and backing of his family to help achieve that world number one spot.

Now known as one of Britain's best taekwondo athletes he is looking forward and aspiring to represent GB in the London 2012 Olympics.

“The ring is my kingdom and I’m not going to be second best”
